CDL Pre Trip Inspections
This is one of the hardest aspects of driver training due to the memorization required and the time it takes to get it right. Practice and repetition is the only way to ensure a driver passes the pre trip inspection when they go to road test. Lets dive into the bread and butter of pretrip inspections with some handy Mnemonics or memory aides.
Being aware of what to say is crucial during the test. The person evaluating you will be attentive to certain phrases. Chances are, you’ve already encountered these expressions, but here’s a simple way to recall what to say.

Properly Mounted, Secure
This is easy because almost every part needs to be properly mounted and secure. practice this phrase with almost every part you inspect and you are half way there.

Abrasions, Bulges, Cuts
If its rubber, abrasions, bulges, and cuts are exactly what you need to say. Just remember your ABC's. Air lines, Brake Lines, Tires, Hoses, etc.

Bent, Broken, Cracked
it's not Bent, Broken or cracked is another excellent reference for any hard parts on the truck.

Not Leaking
If it has fluid or air going through it or in it remember to say, “Not Leaking”.
